classical & folk fusion

I ran across this when my Georgian singing friend in Dublin posted it on Facebook.  One of my first experiences singing with Georgians at a supra in Georgia, was with these Didgori guys, back in 2010.

I'm generally allergic to folk arrangements for classical performance. But THIS! This is something different.  It celebrates and complements Georgian folk in a way I've never heard before.  I admit that I did fast forward once the Didgori guys sat down for the 10 minutes in the middle of the piece.  But when they stand back up again -- and the mass Latvian backup krimanchuli ensues… Awesome!

I can't decide if I'd rather participate in this as part of a Georgian ensemble or part of the classical group. Or just be in the audience. Or just play the YouTube video over and over again.
